Geologist Pack

A Dozen New Designs of 2012

As a look back at the past year we would like to highlight twelve new designs to come out of the Frost River workshop.

The Geologist Pack is a 2012 design that is styled after a rucksack carried by a real Geologist who explored the Iron Ranges of Northeast Minnesota, Michigan, and into parts of Canada.  We had the original pack carried in the 1940’s and 50’s in the shop for a while as we were designing our rendition.  It was rewarding to style a new pack directly from a family heirloom.  The current model is a nice sized, easy to use shape pack that maintains the working rucksack character of the original pack.  The leather backstraps are attached with hand pounded harness rivets, the pockets on the front of the pack are secured with a brass post and leather strap.  The pack has a general round shape and is forgiving if you want to just stuff gear inside and go.  One Geologist Pack supporter said “the straps break in quickly and it doesn’t take long to get an old school vintage look”. $170

Cribbage Board

A Dozen New Designs of 2012

As a look back at the past year we would like to highlight twelve new designs to come out of the Frost River workshop.

The Frost River waterway in the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness charted in wood with a Cribbage Board around it.  New this year we make it possible to circumnavigate the Frost River flowage while enjoying a game of cribbage.  The boards are made in Minnesota and have a surprising level of detail.  Enjoy a mapped trip through Octopus, Bologna, and Pencil Lakes on the way to Frost Lake all along the Frost River.  $40

Summit Expedition

Arrowhead Trail Rolltop Pack

A Dozen New Designs of 2012

As a look back at the past year we would like to highlight twelve new designs to come out of the Frost River workshop.

One of our more popular additions in 2012—and for good reason, the Summit Expedition is easy to like.  The main pack bag goes back to the original Summit Pack, it is big enough to be useful to carry a bunch of stuff but not be overly bulky for a daypack.  The twin side pockets are new additions for 2012, they extend capacity, will hold round one quart water bottles, and have 2-in-1 construction (so a folding saw or other narrow item may be stored between the pack body and pocket).  The zippered pocket works to keep small regularly used items front and centered.  It all comes together to make a great Expedition pack.  $190

Gladstone Luggage

Arrowhead Trail Rolltop Pack

A Dozen New Designs of 2012

As a look back at the past year we would like to highlight twelve new designs to come out of the Frost River workshop.

We have updated our Gladstone Luggage in 2012.  It is now a whole line of bags.  The original with the internal pockets and web handles is now named the Gladstone Toolbag.  The Gladstone Carryon still has the wire opening in the mouth so it opens wide, but it has been dressed up with leather handles and the pockets have been moved to the outside of the bag.  The price stays the same for both …$160.  The Gladstone Weekender has been expanded to increase its capacity; it is 2” longer and has leather handles with exterior pockets it is $180.

Gladstone luggage in the carryon size is new. The toolbag is the Gladstone we have been building for years

Palisade Attachable Portage Pack

Arrowhead Trail Rolltop Pack

A dozen new designs of 2012

As a look back at the past year we would like to highlight twelve new designs to come out of the Frost River workshop.

Carry some weight up front and keep stuff handy on a portage with a Palisade Attachable Portage Pack up front.  It hangs off a set of d-rings that need to be installed on your backstraps (we can do it or you can get an installation kit to do it yourself).  The modular setup could be adapted to use in the canoe or at the campsite with a little ingenuity. Waxed canvas pack body, solid brass hardware, reliability is built into the construction.  $120

Riding on the front, a Palisade Pack can extend carrying capacity and keep items close at hand on a portage.
