Summit Pack

This rucksack is the size of a five gallon bucket and can hold lots of gear. The interior has a pocket for added organization.

An expertly crafted rucksack to wear on your back and haul the stuff that needs to be carried. A backpack with padded waxed canvas shoulder straps attached to a solid brass ring–what more do you need (or want)? It's simple to like-- just toss stuff inside, throw it on your back and roll. It's carry-on compliant, and about the size of a five gallon bucket with a flat spot for your back. Waxed canvas, great leather, double reinforced bottom, solid brass hardware, guaranteed for life–enough said.

Upgrade your straps! Enhance your pack with our premium buckskin padded shoulder straps. Cut from the same burly bridle leather and built with the same care, attention to detail and cushy closed-cell foam as in our canoe and bushcraft packs, this is an upgrade in both style and function. Please note that upgrading to the buckskin straps may require us to spend extra time building your pack. All of our buckskin comes from real, wild deer hides, so each one is a little different and may show scars & evidence of life lived in the wilds of North America. They'll most definitely be worth the wait! Frost River Canvas My State Buckskin Patch Info Below.

    Just right

I thought about buying a 2-3day pack for a few years because it had to be well-built, versatile while having enough space yet not too costly. This pack is just right! So pleased to use it.

    Room for everything

A fantastic catch-all pack. Big enough I have used it for a carry-on with a week's worth of front-country supplies, and a support pack on paddling trips, yet daily it functions to bring my small goods and lunch for work, and other days a diaper bag if necessary. No organization besides the zipper mount on the flap, but it isn't needed and would detract from it's utility anyhow. This bag will last my whole life I am certain, and that is my intent.

    Summit Pack

A simple but robust rucksack, this understated pack can carry all the essentials for an overnighter in the pines, or for a few days hostel-jumping through Tokyo! The burly shoulder straps wear in comfortably, and the Field Tan waxed canvas really exhibts beautiful character the longer it’s used out in the sun. The thick Red Wing leather and the solid brass compliment the bag’s quiet beauty. It’s wabi-sabi, it’s punk rock, it’s as folksy as Duluth! I love this bag!

    Lightweight, High-Quality

Purchased the Isle Royale and love it; but most of the time I don't need such a large, robust, and heavy pack. This bag is simple and lightweight, with off-the-charts materials and workmanship. It's perfect for everyday use. Frost River's customer service in dealing with one little hiccup in my order also exceeded my expectations. Great bag, great customer service.

    Awesome travel bag!

I received this bag a few years ago as a gift. Since then it has been my go to bag for everything from daily gym/work duties to international trips. I’ve packed 2 weeks worth of wardrobe for several different trips including Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Cuba, Thailand, cambodia and Vietnam into this bag as my sole piece of luggage (carry on) without issue. I’ve hiked 13 miles using it as a day pack, and has served me well on weekend trips. This bag is awesome! I highly recommend the sternum strap and extra padding if you plan on packing this bag full and trekking with it as It can weigh pretty heavily on your shoulders if not packed with proper weight distribution since there is not as much support as a framed backpack would give. I remedied this by packing the soles of my 2nd pair or shoes against the edge of the bag that rests on my back or ñ, for hikes, by using a framed hydration bladder. The zipper pouch on the upper flap is also a bit cumbersome when the bag is fully sinched closed as it bunches up at the back end, causing the flap to become pretty much unusable except for storing some extra cables or small items. However, the versatility and amount of use this bag has been through makes up for those minor issues.
