Explorer Duffel ESB

(6 reviews) Write a Review

This is a standard duffel with a cylindrical shape, robust web grab handles, D-rings at each side to use with the included shoulder strap. What really set the ESB's apart are the 'stowable' backstraps that work to turn the bag into a pack to wear on your back. There's also an exterior sleeve on the bottom to store the straps when you're not using it as a pack.

Backstraps on a duffel? Whaaaa?! They’re vital on a pack, why not on a duffel as well? Our Explorer Duffel ESB has stowable shoulder straps-- they allow you wear your luggage when you want, then tuck the straps away when you don’t. It makes carrying a big load a breeze. It also takes the pain out of lugging your way through a crowd… slick! Get more details on the body of the bag in our Explorer Duffel listing. We build them all at our shop in Duluth, Minnesota.

    Ready for adventure!

The duffel is incredibly well made and gorgeous. A little on the heavy side, but the adjustable straps help get it in a comfortable position. Can't wait to take it on my next trip!

This duffel bag will withstand the elements and do it in style. Wish it was more cost friendly for the consumer, but to me it is worth every dollar spent but I tend to buy once cry once type of person. Definitely would recommend to others f they can get by the cost.

    Very Happy

It’s a well built bag overall. It looks very sharp and is quite roomy. It fits comfortably in the overhead bin, although if it was stuffed to capacity, may challenge that. It’s well worth the money for a bag that promises to last a long time.

    Awesome first FR bag!

Posted by Travis Gregg on Oct 24th 2018

After hearing me go on and on about Frost River for almost 2 years, my wonderful wife bought me this bag to carry all of my stuff to and from the firehouse. It is the carry-on size, and it is perfect! The simple but efficient bag layout is just right, and the build quality is everything I imagined it would be. The backpack straps are obviously something I don’t use everyday, but they are great to have when you need them! This gear is top notch quality....end of story. I am already planning to get rid of some other bags to make room for my next purchase.

    Love it!

I have the carry on size and used this bag traveling around South America, Vietnam, Costa Rica, and smaller trips in the US for the past 3 years. It still looks amazing and has no signs of wear. A little heavy but easy to attach the straps for the back pack on longer treks through the airport. I love how study the zipper is.

Tough as nails, high-quality materials, well-made, well-designed, perfect carry-on size

This review is for the carry-on duffel. Every aspect of this bag meets or exceeds my expectations. The leather, canvas, and brass materials are all first-rate, and as far as I can tell, everything is put together well, with correct alignment. I sense that this is a bag my grandchildren will fight over many years from now when I'm dead. The leather is soft where it should be soft (e.g. the handle), and tough where it should be tough (e.g. the shoulder straps). This is a fairly heavy bag for its size, but I don't think most people will mind when they see and feel it for themselves. In terms of value, I'll say this: Frost River can keep my money - this is my bag. These bags aren't cheap, but Frost River's a bargain in this market, and I am proud to source my gear ethically, from America.
