If you've ever read the Journals of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, you'll have realized what these men expected of their equipment back in 1804. It was not going to be an easy trip. Today, Frost River builds products that Meriwether & William would have chosen for their kit; as I do. If you're headed on a long-haul canoe journey this season, this pack will serve you well, like no other. Built for the rugged pioneers that blazed the trails of a new nation; still serving in the space age for those more comfortable on Mother Earth.
Have used this pack on multiple Quetico Trips and other camping and outdoor adventures. Unlike other packs, duffels, or boxes, there's no worry about zippers or buttons or latches breaking...its built for the abuse I throw at it and it hauls a load! If you need a beast of a gear hauler, search no more!
I already own 3 Frost River packs (Kitchen pack, River Isle and Cliff Jacobson day pack) as I have evolved through camping, hunting, bushcraft and now canoe tripping as my main outdoor activity.. The L&C is my latest acquisition. It is huge and a wonderful addition to my collection. My River Isle takes a 30 litre food barrel comfortably, the Kitchen pack is comfortable on my back and the CJ bag is just big enough for a day pack. Do I need all these packs….probably not. Should I have gone for a more comfortable modern canoe pack…..probably! But these Frost River packs have an ageless style and utility which warms the heart and makes my trips in to the countryside all the more special. The attention to detail that FR puts into the robust construction of these packs is quite amazing. They are all quite expensive but will clearly last a few life times and I, for one of those lifetimes, will cherish them.
Thanks for making an excellent pack, I read numerous reviews and descriptions of various packs and decided on the this pack, I can fit all my camping gear into it. It has quality throughout. I'm really pleased with this Lewis and Clark pack, Its pricey but worth it and even better its made in the USA! Thank you Frost River for USA made quality products.
This pack has been great for gear intensive trips to the BWCAW. I've been able to fit all of my gear plus the Nemo Bug Out Shelter and it carries extremely well. I line my pack with a sleeping pad and partially inflate it to give it structure and it has been great on long portages without issue. I originally didn't pack the hipbelt, but it actually does help enough to make it worth it so I've started using it more and more.
Overall very impressed and enjoy the pack.
