North Bay Daypack

“There is nothing like the big open water of North Bay with a little steam rising off it on a clear, calm morning to begin a long Quetico adventure.” -Adam Macht, a canoe country guide at Piragis Northwoods Company in Ely, MN.

Our North Bay Daypack is just as at home in of one of Piragis' canoes as it is shuttling to and from campus or work. We build them in two sizes from trusty waxed canvas at our shop in Duluth. One has a 5” gusset and is a classic daypack size, the 7” is deeper, perfect for boxy or bulky items. All have a sleeve at the back for storing flat stuff, you get the choice to have it padded or not. The zippers go all the way down allowing the pack to open wide. Interior pockets provide organization.

Available in Heritage Black as well as Field Tan, the North Bay Daypack lets you choose which environment to blend in with, and which you'd like to carry with you. In Heritage Black, the North Bay is professional, sleek and understated. Heritage Black features all the same high quality materials as Field Tan, leather from Red Wing, MN, waxed canvas and solid brass hardware. It's built right from the start in Duluth, MN. The padded sleeve on the Heritage Black North Bay comes in Field Tan for increased visibility of your gear on the inside of the pack. The rest is solid black and antiqued solid brass. Here's a pack you'll enjoy for decades to come. Frost River Canvas My State Buckskin Patch Info Below.

    North Bay Heritage Black

This bag is outstanding in every way! It has exceeded all of my hopes and expectations. The canvas is quite sturdy and will long outlast me. It has quite a lot of capacity, perfect for a weekend bag. Thus far I have used as a fishing bag and day bag combined and it has been excellent. Being able to separate things in different compartments makes access so much easier. I love the waxed canvas the Frost River uses! I have numerous products and all of them are very sturdy, very well made, versatile and are easy to carry and use. And, very protective of the contents from bad weather. So no worries if a day on the River turns into a downpour! I totally trust all of my Frost River products. They have more than proven their quality.

    High Quality

First let me say that Frost's customer service is excellent! The bag itself is extremely high quality very heavy canvas with a healthy coating of wax, I wish the buckskin lined straps were an option on this model as well as a leather reinforced bottom but that's just me wanting something even more overbuilt than it needs to be. The zippers are tremendous, and while I believe they will provide many years of service I wish they were brass rather than the brown plastic selected. Something else I feel is worth mentioning, the terminology of the options is a little confusing, the padded/gusset option does not refer to the straps but a padded compartment and a leather reinforced gusset which is nice for laptops and for strength. Lastly, my only real complaint about the backpack is the level of finish in the inside. Everything about the exterior of the pack is well resolved and looks clean and worthy of a $200 backpack; however, the interior leaves something to be desired because the canvas edges are just left open and not sewn back in on themselves which means that you shed threads occasionally, but again this is a superficial criticism and does not impact the quality or the usage of the pack. It's simply disappointing from an aesthetic standpoint. Overall 4 stars!
