Buckskin leather Choppers by Frost River No.870D in Palomino leather. The Soft Buckskin is durable and sure to last a lifetime.

Classic. Simple. Enduring. Leather or waxed canvas choppers are made at Frost River in the traditional style with removable liners. The option allows quick drying and simple replacement of your insulation. The buckskin Choppers are available in three colors. The waxed canvas Choppers offer water resistance and are built from 10.10 oz. field tan canvas. The liners (available separately) are made in the USA by Fox River. They're currently available in size large, blended 50% wool, 50% acrylic. Our buckskin is locally sourced and has a durable yet supple texture. All of our buckskin comes from real, wild deer hides, so each one is a little different, making your pair one-of-a-kind. There may be some scarring in the leather, which is natural with a product that comes from the wilds of North America, and it helps make your Choppers just that much more unique, more authentic and more personal. Frost River mittens and choppers are sized to be roomy -- just right for frigid Minnesota winters. Take a look at the sizing chart in the image gallery to see which size of our mitts will fit you best.

The Frost River Guarantee:

These mitts and choppers are tough. But if you wear ‘em like they’re work gloves, expect that they will eventually wear out. We guarantee all our reliable softgoods to hold together, that the hardware will do its job, but don’t mistake that for a claim they’ll last forever. We stand behind our work and take pride in making good stuff. However, if you use anything made from canvas and leather long enough and hard enough, you’ll need to eventually repair it, and sometimes replace it. When that time comes, we hope you choose to replace it with another Frost River item.

What’s the guarantee cover on mittens? We’ll cover that the seams will hold, the elastic will stay in place, and on the Great Northern Choppers the brass clasp will last and work as long as the mitts hold together. Other than that, repairs for holes, rope-tows chewing through, or dogs discovering the deliciousness of your mitts etc. would fall under the “repair at a reasonable rate” clause if they're still repairable.

They seem great, but definitely run large

Posted by Anne R on Dec 27th 2020

I gave these (waxed cotton version) to my husband for Christmas and they seem great, but they are huge. We are going to order the smaller size and see which one fits better. We did use the size chart for ordering, but I later saw that the catalog listing says to go one size down, but we didn’t see that recommendation on the website.

I decided on the waxed canvas because this material has never disappointed me. Their first use was today, cutting down the Christmas tree and getting it ready. But I have a feeling these are going to be a go to for years. Workmanship is top notch. I definitely recommend purchasing more than one pair of liners so you can swap out insulation and keep the shells clean.

I used these with the liners on a recent elk hunt in fridges temperatures and they kept my hands warm the whole time. I would definitely recommend them.

So I purchased these two summers ago and use them outdoors in the winter all winter long. I work in the trucking industry and open and close trailers up to 60 hours a week wearing these. I purchased a large pair tand I bought two of the frost River liners so that I can pull one liner out and let it dry while using the other. The amount of Road grime and wetness and salt that gets on these would ruin other pairs of gloves and mittens.....I highly recommend these. Love the waxed cotton.

    X-Large, 870D-P - Palamino Buckskin)

Posted by KEN BUTTERFIELD on Nov 29th 2019

This pair of mittens are the Bomb, with the inserts very nice. I only wished I would have gone with the large because I didn't think there would be room for inserts. I wear a large glove so I went with X-Large. but that's on me, just measure and know what the measurement is you will have room. palamino Buckskin are great ********** stars
