Fall’s a great time for rambling! The woods are filling with color, the bugs are (mostly) gone, the temps are more comfortable, hunting and gathering are in season, it’s a great time to grab a trusty pack and get out into the field!

The pack is everything I hoped for. I haven’t put it to use yet. I can’t wait until I can fill it and go. Thanks.

IT’S EXPENSIVE. BUY IT ANYWAY
Sure, It’s expensive. But If I tallied up all the money I’ve wasted on backpacks and selling or donating them, it would be way more than the purchase price if this pack.
I’m a tall guy and I need a pack that fits my torso length. This is the only pack I could find that fits me perfectly. The quality is unmatched. Absolutely superb. It has just enough pockets for the right amount of gear I need to take into the woods. The canvas is tough, the leather straps and brass buckles are rock solid. Everything built into this pack is over engineered and heavy duty. Just the way things in life should be made. There is no planned obsolescence designed into this pack. I bought the Senior version for the height of this pack. I’m 6’2” and weigh 250 and it fits me just right. I bought my wife the medium size and it’s roughly the size of a medium A.L.I.C.E pack. Perfect for an average woman going into the woods. The axe sleeve and hidden sleeves behind the front pockets are nice additions for a knife, saw or whatever. The map pocket in the could use some sort of snap or button. I appreciate the old world style and functionality of this pack. I plan to beat it into the ground and I expect it will out- live me despite the abuse it will see.
Trust me you will not be disappointed. Close your eyes, hand over the money and walk away with the best backpack you will ever own. And maybe even pass it down to your kids, grandkids or who ever.
I only wish I could afford to buy a slew of these and hand them out to the homeless. Talk about true hard-core survival!! Homeless people could benefit greatly from these packs.

The Bottomless Pit
I was looking for something that would really, truly, hold everything including the kitchen sink, and this is it. Very comfortable, too. I like low tech. No endless pockets within pockets, endless snaps, catches, MOLLE patches, and incomprehensible fitting instructions. Sorry I didn’t get it years ago.
