Trezona Trail Top Tube Bag

The Trezona Trail Top Tube Bag attaches to the frame of the bike with leather straps and solid brass hardware. This product is made in the USA at Frost River from waxed canvas.

Riding around the four mile Trezona Trail loop in Ely, Minnesota isn’t all that tough or strenuous, especially when on a bike with your extra layer tucked into the Trezona Trail Top Tube Bag from Frost River. It sure was nice to see the headframe at the old Pioneer Mine and that beautiful trout the angler pulled out of Miner’s lake. Then when the sudden summer rains came, there are your shells, tucked in the frame. Our Trezona Trail Top Tube Bag allows you to securely stow gear inside the bike frame. Two sizes are available with universal leather and brass attachment straps to fit a variety of frames. Two compartments close with coil zippers with storm flaps to offer storage of flat items like a map and a wallet on one side, while higher volume gear can be stashed on the other (which utilizes the full volume of the bag. The Small Trezona will carry 5 12oz. cans (it’s up to the person packing to figure out what to do with the sixth…) the Large will hold 7 cans or equivalent other stuff. We make both sizes of Trezona Trail Top Tube Bike Bags at our shop in Duluth, Minnesota from 18oz. waxed canvas, with four leather straps that have solid brass “Sam Browne” posts for attachment to a bike. The leather comes from Red Wing, Minnesota — it’s the good stuff. Waxed canvas works well for bike bags because it’s weather, mud and abrasion resistant. Generous storm flaps cover the zippers on both sides. The attachment points are well placed to make a secure connection that helps to avoid swaying of the bag, while free floating, adjustable and replaceable straps keep your options open. Frame bags are awesome because they center the weight in the middle of a bike and keep your profile narrow, which is handy when bike packing or riding single track.

    Trezona bag - Large

Posted by James Lee on May 20th 2021

I've used this bag on my touring bike for a few months and here are my thoughts. Great: - Material is durable, sheds water, and even when wetted out, water doesn't appear to penetrate. - Stitching is solid and looks like it should hold up for years. - Zippers are beefy and solid, should have no issues. - I can stuff quite a lot in the Large and not worry about seam or zipper issues. Could be better: - Only two attachment points on the top of the bag. As the Large is pretty long, it bows down in the centre, and at least one, preferably two, more attachment points are needed. I've sewn an additional length of webbing on mine and attached a couple more straps through those loops. - The included straps are quality, but the holes are spaced too far apart - either the straps are too tight to fit over the Sam Browne post or they're loose and floppy. Over time they will stretch so they might work out for you, or you might have to punch extra holes. I've had straps come loose because they're too loose, which might be solved if buckles are used instead of the posts. Overall, a great bag in terms of durability, quality, and looks.

    Top tube bag

I love the bag. Ive had it on my bike a few weeks and absolutely love it. It holds odd shape items like my small tripods, or a beer or 5. The straps are very strong and at first didnt tighten down enough, but after a few hot and humid Alabama days I got them tight. I was worried if the bag would swing in the way of my feet, or bump my feet. It is narrow enough that I dont know it is there. All in all I would make this purchase again, hands down!

    Awesome little bag

Beautiful bag! Functional and stylish, this bag fit perfectly on my bike and gives a it a nice classic look. Straps hold the bag securely with little to no movement. Ordering was a breeze, as Frost River did an excellent job keeping me updated on my order. Can't wait to add another bag to the collection!

    Great bag, 2 caveats

Posted by Dave Spoelhof on Dec 12th 2018

This is a well-made top tube bag, with sturdy, protected, zippers on both sides. Two caveats: 1. The large, 21 inch version is too long for my size "large" frame hybrid and mountain bikes. The small, 17 inch size fits nicely. The store has a large bag on display, mounted on a snow bike. 2. The bag is partitioned into two equal-sized chambers. I expect the small bag will hold a tightly rolled-up pair of shorts & t-shirt on one side and underwear with a pair of socks on the other side, maybe with some room left over for smaller things.
