The Whelen Lean-To Tent is made of light weight 100% cotton Sunforger 10.10 oz army duck canvas. The fabric is water and fire resistant. This product is made in Duluth, MN at Frost River.

The Whelen Lean-to was designed by Colonel Townsend Whelen in the 1920's to satisfy his need for light- weight camping in cool or cold weather. Set up in front of a campfire, the Whelen will keep you warm and protected even when the temperature drops below freezing. Made of 100% cotton Sunforger 10.10 oz army duck canvas which is fire resistant and water resistant. For an improvement over the square tarp, it can also double as a great outdoor kitchen in foul weather. When rigged to its full height of 5 1/2 feet, the lean-to provides floor space of 6'x 7' which is large enough for 4 campers to cook and eat in. For more versatility, expandable poles with stakes may be purchased separately here.  Color: natural. Weight: 9 lbs

    Whelen Lean-to Tent

I received my Whelen w/ loops right on time in both the manufacturing and shipping estimates. It is everything I hoped it would be. I have wanted one for years but just never brought myself to get one until now. My first impression of this when I saw the quality of material and workmanship was: Why did I wait so long to get it. Now, I have a grandson (who was the catalyst for ordering it) to share it with and know he’ll be using it long after my camping days are over. And, they don’t state it in the catalog or web page but it came with a $30.00 Tent Bag; which was an unexpected pleasure.
